It has been a while since i have written a post, mainly because it has been a huge time of transition. I recently made the switch from teaching to being an online curriculum developer at EDC (Educational Development Center). I am now facilitating online courses and designing applets - small online learning applications that add a dynamic, interactive element to online courses. My current applet projects involve an interactive timeline of ancient china and a program that relates the season's to the position of the earth relative to the sun. I'm looking forward to designing an ecology applet in the near future.
Currently, I am in Orange Beach, Alabama at an e-learning for Educators Conference. I am facilitating discusions between education professionals in West Virginia so as to help them develop their online education program. It is a great opportunity and the people have been awesome.
As for Birdley news, Book 9 is slated to be submitted on December 15 and book 8 is scheduled to be released this Spring. Both will be on earth science. Book 8 will focus on the history of the earth from the big bang through the Precambrian era, and will have quite a bit of material on earth's layers and plate tectonics. Book 9 will focus on fossils, the geologic time, the rock cycle, and volcanoes. Much of what I learned from the science workshops this summer found their way into book 9. Microbes will play a prominent role in both books. Three comics on book 8 are viewable under sample pages at the birdleymedia site.
Happy November!
