Biome Project
Recently as I was driving to work, I thought of an art-based activity to do with my Environmental Science class that has so far worked out well. We've been reviewing biomes, so I had my students fold some poster paper into four quadrants, and in each quadrant, draw a specific type of biome. Students have to draw and label four abiotic factors, four biotic factors, include a description on climate, and write in some unique qualities. I did the assignment with them and was then able to help share what I used to get around obstacles. For example, for drawing micr0-organisms I had them draw some zoom-in circles, which can be used to reveal algae, plankton, krill, and extremophile microbes. Looks like the assignment will take two class periods and one to two nights of homework.
